Casting in slate moulds

Thank you Brian, it does look good. Our major Arms dealer has this one on offer for 103,- €. Which is good compared to Amazone. Only worried about the Minimum load capacity. My guess is it needs at least 1 Kg of alloy which can Never be used for Casting. A bitter fact as the Price for the needed high quality Metal has recently raised to all times hights . Anyway certainly worth considering.

For many years I have used a Lyman big dipper with KA low melting tin, the one your looking at is just not big enough

Thank you both. I used to own a Lee melter but had no luck with it. The outlet never stopped Leaking and the design was useless as the room inside of the melter was blocked by some release arm for the button valve. I am about to get one from EBay similar to the one I posted in my initial Mail. The seller will post from a german adress within days. The specs appear to be slightly better than the PA one (Watt, Control dials etc.). At about 50€ not that much of a loss if things do go wrong.

I use Lee Precision Melter.

It is developed for fishing and shooting practice,
but works fine with rather small amounts of alloy.
BUT - you need to buy a bigger melting pot.
I bought my melting pot from Berliner Zinnfiguren, but it is no longer available.

Thank You very much, so these melting pots are used in our Hobby. Now the challenge is to pick one that does not burn up at first use but if they eventuelly do work it is good value for money.

Hi,
As I wish to cast some slate moulds soon I am looking for a reliable Heat-source to melt Metal (Tin Alloy). A Thermostate would be nice as well as allowing for a wide controlable temperate range. Found some at Amazone as well as EBay. Does anybody use one of These and are they any good??
Any advice is highly welcome.
