Hi all,

Sent revised drawings and remarks to Sascha and I think we have a pretty decent figure ( as below ). Any further comment is welcome🙂

Hi all,
the figures are drawn in a frontal position, legs and bodies have no perspective. So, the focal point of the stairs must be as low as possible. I enclose pictures with two positions of a focal point. The figure of a priest should be moved to the left to avoid strange connections marked by a circle. I hope this will give a little help.

I feel ready to paint version 2, and would privilege the situation of sharing their engagement rather than stepping down after the event.

Put me down as "happy-ish." The #2 drawing is better, but still too much of a side view, looks like it's catching them in the act of turning away from the Bishop.

One problem is the hands - if they're holding hands in that way, they have to be facing each other  - which translates into a side view of the couple. This detracts from them as the subject of the scene.

I would prefer a frontal view with the couple holding hands, descending the stairs - maybe after the ceremony, and priest in the middle seen in the background - maybe with a hand raised giving the blessing.

I think the scene should be romantic, and this just doesn't do it for me. Too much Bishop; not enough of the main characters.  I think the gown on Gwen is better in #2.

Sorry to be a PITA, but that's my opinion.   ::)

Thanks for the feed back young men especially Michel 🙂.

The time period is earlier than Medival, more Saxon/ Viking.  I must admit maybe setting Arthur in the Medival period would have given him more scope especially with the range of Armour we could have used throughout the whole series, but the clothing worked so well in the Sword in the stone and the Lady of the lake.

Personally I don’t get the feeling of Arthur running away, as his top foot is firmly facing Guinevere as is his head, but the angles of the bodies do work better than the first drawing, especially for when it comes to the painting of it. Guinevere is slightly smaller but this reflects the period. With regards the sword, as his front leg has now twisted forward, his knee is now pushing against the scabbard so angling it slightly. The Archbishop is quite a lot smaller than Arthur, but I think it is the perspective of his hat that gives the illusion of super height.

Thanks Eric, well caught on the step, it makes all the difference.  If everyone is happy-ish with this version, I will send this revised drawing to Sascha 🙂
