Yes, you are right Mark. My sources were Wagner's book from 60-ies, watercolors by Wilke, Terana and Rousselot, MAA books on 30 YW . The eagle I saw on artillery pieces and carriages of Imperial army. This was a common practice as far as I understand.

I have some of these Ochel artillery figures - mine are not this nicely put together however.  Do you know the explanation of the eagle - the barred cross on your pictures, i.e. I assume something like Army of Holy Roman Empire or Wallenstein or ..?

Magnificient characters = detailed, fine painting , and indeed the red cloak of Richelieu is exceptional !!!!!!!!
