I would have liked to take a crack at these for the TYW painting project. Some aspects of design and engraving can be fixed with tools and putty - straightening lines, sharpening details, etc. Or is that considered gauche...?

Glen
Oil paint is preferable to gauche  ;D
Nice job any way Glen .always tricky when you fancy  painting a subject and it needs a resculpt .I am having some problems with a poorly cast wagon and knight from the Nurnberg 1500 set

Ahh... perhaps more acceptable on the rive gauche...  8)

Very nice work - as usual from you!
TYW is my favourite period and however I am more familiar with the riders and foots your paintwork is outstanding.
I also like very much your Napoleon that is up on eBay.de nowadays!
Best regards:

Really nicely done on these!  I can see why the figures appealed to you, they are rather fun.

An addition to this old topic
Two Ochel groups on the same subject, TYW artillery
Quality of design and engraving is not the best but they are very interesting to paint and at last make nice little pieces

Thank you Henry
I learnt something today !
Obviously it's WS, so : Wilhelm Sabeth
I was troubled because the engraving is not Maîer's quality

WS means Wilhelm Sabeth. He was engraver for ochel. But, may be it is not WS, it is SM.
Thanks, henry

The editor is Kiel (Ochel) and the mark on the base can be read WS; but I think it is SM : Sixtus Maïer
These figures are still available in the Kieler catalogue; references are 235a and 236; there is also a 235b showing a mortar crew
