Just don't make it bright green. Make it a green-gray, brown, or tan. Paint the base a sandy brown color. Google 'desert scrub' images and you'll get loads of references.

I have also been guilty of this so you are not the only one Sandor. I have also seen the error of my ways and remove "tufts".

Yes, I myself was also thinking about the necessity of this "grass-tuft" when I cleaned up the figure.
Finally I left it, having the earlier experience that: one can remove a part later as well - BUT to recreate a cut off part once again is much more difficult. :(
Also even in the course of painting I found it not too realistic to have a green grass on the desert surface.
I shall remove it!! ;)

Dear Sandor.
It´s quite nice, but It would improve a great deal if you removed the "green thing" which now is supporting the hindleg of the horse. There is no need for it as the figur will stand very well on two legs. It goes for your other figur as well.
I suppose these small busches are to secure that the metal will flow when the figure is casted. Hope you don´t mind me writing this Sandor?

However according to my knowledge this kind of helmet (so called Topfhelm or heaume) came into fashion about 60-80 years after the first Crusade. In the first crusade the so called concal or norman casque was the most popular.
