What is going on...

Let's see, I have run this site for 12 years without assistance and still do - several requests for participation have fallen flat.
Other than Jerry with the wonderful Journal and Hannibal with the galleries there is little to no active assistance.

The internet has moved on and some of the technology.  The site needs an update which has become more difficult to do without losing large chunks of functionality or content.  Apparently I need to do this one more time and lose some of the content such that it functions to an acceptable level but, this will be it.

The reality is the time for this wonderful little spot on the internet is fading quickly.  More new content is now on Facebook than here and few of you seem willing to give up some of your precious time to assist.  Such is the way of things - the links section has gotten much smaller over the last several years and our user base is changing.

Sorry for the frustrations, I will provide notice when the site is coming down and being converted.

Let me have also some remarks:

1. The login-procedure works quite difficultly! I experienced several times (almost always recently) that two or three attempts are needed for a successful login. The login procedure frequently runs into system error.

2. Also a problem that to change page (e.g. from Forum to open a topic needs 10-15 seconds !!). It is also interesting, that at present the number of guests is about 8900 (!!! see on the bottom of the Forum-page) with one user (it is me at present). Maybe these guests are inactive ones, but in spite of this they reserve some of the resouorces of the system? Maybe that is the reason of the slowness? (It is the same situation if I freshly restart my computer - so it is not because of the lack of my own resources - , furthermore other sites are working in the normal speed).

The latest information, that a second ago I lost the entire message-body in fetching the preview !!! It is a luck that I have copied the entire message text before invoke the prview !!!  What is going on ???

Best regards-
Sandor

OK Mark, I jts hope a potential new member unfamiliar with the forum can find this information easily by himself somewhere ... Have we tested this simulation, wthout registering first?

There is a long standing issue with the registration module on the site requiring a good deal of work to correct.  Folks wishing to register need to reach out to me directly.

I have announced this previously…

to the committee:
any idea why we don't have any new member since January 2026 ?  Locking? Access?
altough many unregistrerd visitor with presumably limited access to files, galleries, ..?
Or is access fully free to all visitors now?
