In any case, congratulations on the painting! The figurine isn't dynamic, but the static effect is intentional.
Indeed, the figurine was designed to fit into an existing series and give it more possibilities for representing French cavalry regiments. It should be noted that in France under the monarchy, musicians wore the livery of the regiment's colonel-proprietor.
Their costume could differ from the usual standard. Thus, at the beginning of the 18th century, the Villeroy and Colonel-General cavalry regiments were used. The drawing is by Sascha Lunyakov, the engraving by Daniel Lepeltier, the publisher of Epopées.
