I do prefer the drawing of version 2 for the following reasons:
1: drawing of the hair, face and clothing of the Lady is better, face is more friendly, hair less static
2. Sword hanging a bit inclined is giving a feeling of movement, when vertical, more static.
3. They look both better eyes-to-eyes, when in version 1, the Lady was more watching the priester
BUT:
1. the slight turn of Arthur (anf change of the sword inclination) gives a feeling of movement, like Arthur was on leaving her Lady and talking to her like 'sorry my dear I have an urgent request to handle, will be back in a few minutes'
2. I have the feeling that the size of Arthur in version 2 is larger, taller than version 1, as he was upfront the other two characters (as he was one step lower on the starit than where he stands now)
3. One way to compensate is to enlarge the size of the Lady a bit to give her equal attention and not this feeling of Arthur leavng them two
Also now, the Lady ssems to have the same sie as the priester behind when he should be really behind, therefore a bit smaller ( distance larger than now)....
4. Other way if one consider that moman did not wear 'haut talons' in the middel age, and a woman must be smaller than a man, is to make the priester smaller, to increase his distance a bit towards the two characters upfront.
This is a subtile feeling, but the relative size of the characters seems important to locate their spatial position !!
Have one or two drawings for testing this before final decision, I think.
