There is a African elephant that size. They call them Forest Elephants they are found in the Congo very rare  Africans Bulls are hard to work but they can be worked.  Willie

Very nicely painted  , but as you say, Eric, historically not very accurate.

In fact the Carthaginian war elephant was a now extinct subspecies, taxonomic status of which is under debate. It was only some 2 meters above the withers. Hence there was no place for a turret, so except for the mahout who was guiding the animal, only one or two warriors could also sit astride on the Elephant like when you ride on a horse. 


Thus all tin figures of Carthaginian war elephants are incorrectly design when they have a turret. Also the size is incorrect.
