I agree that seeing the shadows on the cover head of the elephant, some deeper shadows can be given to the green folds, and on the left back side of the green sheet.
As the light seems to come from beforehed upper right, light on the tail, and back shield and back leg are surprising, also on the trump end, below the elephant head.
But indeed some are maintained to keep the overall figure readable (especially if the background is maintained totally black)
Also perhaps add small shadow on the upper of the the trump, right under the red cover, instead of an intense lightening ...
Last detail, the special sword used by the cornac is white, strange shape and brillant, attracting a lot of attention; perhaps some shadow can be given to reduce that attraction point excessively ... (if the light is front right, the angle of the blade of the sword should not be directed to the person vieiwng the flat, but on the left, as the sword end is hidden by the howdah ... not in its front.
