I think it's the photo Eric, the light has washed out the shadows on the lighter colours!!!
now you know why some painters paint their figures very dark, especially in competitions, it's for the camara

Thanks Gerry, the White bleeds into the other colours which mellows the effect of water, so I am now on the 3rd coat.      how's yours getting on?
