Thanks for the great pictures, Joe. Between the small size and the lighting, I missed some of the beauty of Greg's work - you brought that out for me. Thanks.

And last, but not least, here is the link to the Greg DiFranco pieces, done by a professional, found on the Flat Tin Figure site.

I got some close-ups of Greg DiFranco's 30mm flats you will find his use of multiple colors  quite fascinating. Note some small highlights are blue. I found if you click on the individual photo it will zoom out and give you more of what they look like without the intense magnification.  ENJOY :)

Sorry, all. I just realized that I failed to post in the MFCA 2013 Gallery Catherine's the fairy with the magnificent face. I have corrected that. Please have a look.

@ Nick - If you knew Kevin, you'd know why he called it a self-portrait.  ;D ;D ;D   But, yes, many of us fall into that general category of looks. I hope at 36 you're on the young side of that spectrum!  :o :o
@ Gerry - Yes a few noted they will be going to Kulmbach. Did not write down the names. It is on my bucket list, but a new car and some other issues blocked my attendance this year. I WILL get there.
@ Mark - No idea on the editor. Maybe someone else can help. They were brilliantly painted, but very hard to photograph well. The picture does not do them justice. I'm told they were done in acrylics.

Great stuff PJ thank you indeed!

Does anyone know the editor of the Greg DiFranco American Revolutionary War figures?  I am not familiar with them but, they are stunning - even more so with Greg's great painting...

There certainly is a bit of talent out there, all very very well done.

As you said Patrick, Kevin's self portrait is brilliant, the great thing with it, is it actually reflects most of us, ( although I must point out I'm only 36 !!!!!! :o)   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm looking forward to meeting some of you at Kulmbach, I just hope you know what you are letting yourselves in for and can cope with the 3x village idiot Amigo's !!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

We've started of well, were going to the wrong airport!!!!!!    :D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have posted the flats from MFCA 2013 in the Shows section of the Gallery. Have a look.

Pictures are compliments of Kevin Dunne and myself.  Thanks for all your help, Kevin!
Also, be sure to have a look at Kevin's "Self Portrait". FANTASTIC!

There were also a number of great canvas art pieces which I included for your review. I think it's a very good idea to display these at the show, and I hope there will be a category for these some day.

The Fairy was painted by a 12 year old (+/-) girl - Delaney Whitman. Great job. Her Dad had some flats and canvases in the show a well.

Catherine Cesario Poisson and her husband Richard were present this year. I crossed a big one off my "bucket list" when I got the chance to meet them both. Please note the face on the fairy round. It is the most beautiful painted human face I have ever seen. What talent!

That concludes my report on MFCA 2013. One of the best MFCAs in recent years, in my opinion.

A full report on MFCA to follow soon. I'm getting the pictures organized.
MEETING REPORT
The meeting was well-attended, and we actually made some decisions!! Both will be proposed in separate threads here later.

1. We are asking the N. American contingent of the BFFS to do a flat (any size/any subject) or pull one from their existing painted collection to be placed on a board for next year's MFCA as a BFFS display. We hope to spread the word about the Society in the same way our European counterparts are doing now.   To be decided: what will become of the flats after MFCA 2014: Sell (proceeds to the Society) or return them to owners.

2. We will be asking all N. American members to submit to me their email addresses so that we can develop a N. American mailing list to communicate with each other directly.
Other business-
3. Some of us will be attending Kulmbach, and there was discussion of that.
4. Jack Muldoon (The Little Tin Soldier) was present, and noted that he has an improved web site. He asks you to have a look and give him any comments or suggestions about the site or what kind of figures you would like to see in his inventory. Contact him directly - contact info is on the site. Jack is our only N. American dealer, so let's help him, and thereby, help ourselves.
5. Many GREAT compliments on our new website. Mark, and those who helped out, you are our heroes!! Many Thanks.
More to follow as I get organized after the show.

MEETING NOTICE
We will continue the tradition of having a "rump session" meeting of the N. American chapter of the the BFFS at MFCA again this year. Members, friends, and anyone interested in flats are welcome. No agenda - just getting to know each other and having fun. Disclosure: I will try to convince you to become a member if you are not one now!  ;D

Flat figure vendor Jack Muldoon ("The Little Tin Soldier") will be at the show to sate your appetite for the latest in appealing flats from around the world.

The meeting will be on Saturday, May 11th at Noon in the food court area just outside the main enterance. I will have it announced over the loudspeaker system, but make plans to be there.  If any of you are making the trip from the UK (or anywhere else, for that matter!), PLEASE stop by and let us meet you! We'll be the group of handsome, intelligent, and well-spoken persons at the corner table.
