Hello All,

I talked with Penny Meyer last weekend at MFCA. She informed me that funds are still badly needed to support the transport and care of Mike's figures to the Ommen Museum in the Netherlands. If you have not yet made a contribution, and wish to do so, it is not too late.

With that in mind, and since Penny is traveling this week, she asked me to post this message from Mark Taylor:

---Message begins:

Hello all
As you all know, my father Mike Taylor passed away last December.  It was a big shock to the family and left a huge gap in my life. The other gap left was in the flat figure world. Dad's artistic talent stretched beyond paining figures, even beyond holding a paint brush, but his World Master award in 2000 showed just how brilliant he was.

If you are a collector who can gaze upon his work in your own home, from the bottom of my heart I thank you for your extra support you gave. If you can not look upon his work every day, then there is about to be a perfect opportunity to be able to see it all at your leisure.

You probably know about the museum in Ommen, Netherlands and the fact that they have half of Dad's painted collection already. Well, it was always his wish that the rest of his collection also went to the museum when he finally hung up his paint brushes. At the end of this year I am planning to take the majority of Dad's remaining work over there. It is not exactly a short drive down the road and therefore the cost won't be cheap.

If you were friends with my father, admired his talent, or both, and would love to be able to help be a part of keeping his legacy going, it would be a great honour if you could donate towards the transport, and upkeep, of this collection in Ommen.

As I will probably not get the chance to thank you in person, and my father has lost the opportunity to do the same, may I say now, that however small, every bit will help and make me so grateful for your kindness.

I hope that one day we will meet (again, if the case may be) and that you will visit the collection and tell others to as well.

Many regards
Mark Taylor

Thank You For posting this Penny.

It has been suggested that should the Museum have a special day to unveil Mikes Collection, we will try to organise a trip there to support it. Hopefully I can find out more on this on Monday at the Funeral.

The service for Mike Taylor will be on Monday, January 12. Michael’s wishes were to donate his collection to the National Flat Tin Figure Museum in Omen, Netherlands. The museum had a retrospective of his work several years ago and will house “The Michael Taylor Collection”.

Instead of flowers, etc. the family would like you to donate this money instead to the Museum Fund, which will pay for the transport and upkeep of the collection.

Because I cannot make it to Britain, I have donated my grocery money for the rest of the month to the fund. Steven Lloyd and I have made a page on his tin figure site with information on how you too can honor Michael Taylor by sending money to his son, Mark through Paypal. Thank-you Steven for your help.

Paypal is easy and free account. There is a small transaction fee to send money. Mine was $1.67. I send money all over the world with paypal. And it converts it to the local currency.

It would be nice for Mark to be able to announce donations to the fund at the memorial on Monday. Thanks for your attention!
