I won't make it, but that's good to know. When I lived in Simmern, I was a regular visitor to the Wehrtechnisch Museum in Koblenz and the big indoor/outdoor museum in Sinsheim.

Hallo friends of flats, old bikes, cars and planes,
if you are in Kulmbach you can visit the "Automobilmuseum, Nagler Weg 9, 95686 Fichtelberg" near Kulmbach
(40 miles) in the "Fichtelgebirge". In August they are open on Monday, because they are private.
You need a car because there is no railway.
Look at www.amf-musum.de .

Best regards

Michael

That's a great collection Jerry! I read a Wiki article on them. I'd like to get an MG-TD and an MGA, but I have no place to put them. My wife's suggestion was a bit impractical as well as painful...  :o

Glen, top picture is a 1959 Ariel Square 4 on a Watsonian sidecar. Engine is 1000cc 4 cylinder in a square format, two twin cylinder cranks geared together. Middle picture a 1950 Square 4 ( I have 2 of them) and bottom a 1938 600cc sidevalve single. I also have a 1935 600cc ohc Square 4 that I am restoring.

We called the Aerial Square Four a Squarial back in the day .I was given an old Aerial 500? once  by the cop over the road .Badly bashed up  poor brakes and not very fast .I rode it over the local illegal bike track until it died and I grew up .i swapped it  for a  Triumph t bird engine .My wife wont allow me a bike now .The last Kawasaki scared the hell out her ...and me .

X2 on the nice bikes, Jerry. I'm not familiar with the 'Ariel' name; are they older bikes? It looks light the top pic is showing a sidecar. A couple of decent rains will wash the salt away. Now bundle up a bit and get out there!

Looks good Michael - from what I can see of it! I used to live in Simmern (SW of Koblenz). Many times in the winter I'd go out to see my wife's Ford Fiesta XR2 pocket rocket looking like that; or worse.

The Midget is a '72 with a 1275cc engine. Pretty good little runner. I've had it about seven years now and rebuilt the engine and had it painted (it's original color). It's one of a pair. The other is '77 Midget (1500cc) which I've owned for 24 years now. If nothing else, the MGs do keep me from creating a vast gray army of unpainted figures...

I do wish MG was still around...

...I was not painting figures. It was time for some wind in the hair (yes, I have hair).
