Hi Oleg:

The SIMA series contains flat figures from the original molds for Paul Armont's "Knights of the Golden Fleece" and many later reproductions.  Armont based his figures on a medieval codex "Knights of the Order of the Golden Fleece" which can be found here:

https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b55009806h/f1.item

The armorial contains illustrations of the members of the Golden Fleece from 1430-1461. The original members are depicted at the back of the codex. These are the figures from Armont's series.

Additional figures from the original molds may be found here:

I have cleaned up and placed a PDF copy of the codex in the Uniformology section of the Members Only area of the site.

The history between Burgundy and France in the 15th century is not an easy one. The Burgundy Duke John the Fearless was murdered by the french king and his son Phillip the Good wore black clothing all his life because of that. Burgundy at that time was a nearly indepented state, much richer than France. In parts of the Hunderd Years War Burgundy fought the French as allies of the English. And the French king paid a lot money to the Swiss and their allies to fight the Burgundians in 1474-1477.
But I´m pretty sure that between all the fighting there had been some tournaments.
There is a good book about Burgundy written by Bart van Loo recently, but I´m not sure if it is available in English.

Stunning Project, Oleg!!! Wonderful paint!

I think tournaments book of René of Anjou show us only half of the tribunes. On the other side of the tournament camp will be a simmetrical part of tribunes.

In any case, for example an the death of the French king Charles VII, end of July 1461, for succession by his son Louis XI there was a great coronation celebrations, accompanying by a great tournament (the famous one in which we can see the Savage Man, but i don't remember quite well)...there are some XX sec illustration on the book of  Jacques Onfroy de Bréville (JOB) "Louis XI" pubblished in Paris in 1905. That period show a connection beetween France and Burgundy...Can help?

Thank you Christoph and John,
yes I know a bit of history about French and Burgundians. In my case It was too late to change the banners. The book of king Rene shows only three tribunes so I always has a chance to represent particular tournament using left over two tribunes. But what shall I do with painted ones? I am still Looking for historical precedent.

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!!!!
Great painting, can´t wait to see more.

The connection between Burgundy and France was a very difficult one.

I think most of the Maier figures are based on medival book of tournaments made for Rene of Anjou.

The virus home stay pushed me to start a big project. I bought these figures from Maier catalog about five years ago. The drawing and engraving are not very good and has some perspective mistakes but it was an interesting experience. The two banners (French and Burgundian) are already engraved but could be modified. Does anybody know a historical tournament where French king and Burgundian Duke were participating or in present?
