Very nice Eric. I've also got some SIMA figures in progress at the moment.

Ok, I'll bite. What makes them 'Amazons'? They look like late 19th Century ladies on Sunday afternoon ride. Nary a sword or shield among them...

Amazon is the name given to women who ride sitting on the side of the horse; it is an equestrian word
This way of riding was common until the 30'th, before women started to wear pants
Nothing to do with antics Amazons

Hi Eric,
This was the first time I learned about the painter Alfred de Dreux. Indeed a very nice new expirence.
You mean that these two ladies are actually taken from a painting by him?
I have always thought these two figures were representing the Preussian Queen Louise and one of her Court ladies.

At least the one with the yellow jacket is inspired by Alfred de Dreux
Look at the joined picture
Canvas from Alfred are full of ideas for painting horses

Dear Eric,
Yes, I see the resemblance. No doubt that the drawer got his impression from this painting.
I personally appreciate that you have showed this, for my, unknown interesting French painter.
