Title: Werner Otto information
Post by: marko on January 02, 2020, 01:03:02 PM
I am curious if anyone has a bit more information on Werner Otto whose name I have run across frequently of late as an engraver and producer of many figures.  Has he ever produced a catalog or is he still strictly contact via snail mail.

John Garret's Encylopedia of Model Soldiers indicates Werner Otto as being born in 1950 and still advertising as of 1977 - an impressive career of the same gentleman.

I have run across his work for in a number of Mike Taylor's Egyptian figures including his large barges, Napoleon and his staff, Austrian staff of the Napoleonic Wars and many other figures.  Despite a very large output information is a bit sparse with only a few mentions in the Journal under figure releases.

Also available from Berliner Zinnfiguren

Can anyone fill in a bit more and is there any lists or catalogs available?

I remember some 2018 flats by Werner Otto in the Martin Andrä catalog, too...

some 30mm Minnesänger

Perhaps Martin Andrä  could have more information

the last address that I had for Werner Otto was Kathe-Kollwitz-strabe 52, 04509 Delitzch tele.03420290336
No e mail and if I remember all correspondence was b ysnail.
Perhaps one of the German groups' could help with more up to date information
Kindest regards

Attached is an Otto  catalogue I obtained through the BFFS when we used to operate a bulk ordering system, before the WEB.

An article by Jim Woodley in Journal 21 pp12-13 points out that much of Otto's work was for other editors, so the figures in the catalogue would only represent a portion of his work. (Modified by ADMIN to include relevant section.)

Out of interest I Googled Delizscher Zinnfiguren and there is a 2018 article in German but I couldn't translate it.  Good luck with your search Mark and if you find out anything let us know!

Thanks for that Gerhard, there are some figures there I am interested in buying. It reminded me that Otto also engraved for the editor Unger as a number of these flats were for sale under 273/.

This site was updated in October 2019 and provides addresses for both Unger and Otto (same as Bob's) http://www.zinnfigurenfreunde-leipzig.de/zfl-a4.htm (http://www.zinnfigurenfreunde-leipzig.de/zfl-a4.htm)
