Title: Landsknecht Battle
Post by: Christoph on October 28, 2019, 04:24:12 AM
Hello,
here are some pitures from my resent work. Showing mounted men-at-arms in battle with Landsknechts.

Figures from Koss, Carl, Scholtz, Wilken and other.

Thank you.
Martina: yes the colours of the Landsknechts are french (white cross of St. Denis). The french had much german and swiss footsoldiers in their ranks that time.
The banner of the knights on the left shows the burgundy St. Andrews cross as well as irons and flintstone. This were the signs of Charles the bold of Burgundy. When his son in law, the later german emperor Maximilian I. take over after Charles died at the battle of Nancy in 1477 he continued to carry on this signs. So the origin is burgundy. The burgundy cross is still used today in spain and the germans used it alot around 1500 and later.
