Title: Standard of the "Provinces Unies"

Hi all I recently bought this figure It is said that it shows the banner of the "Provinces Unies" (now part of Nederland) during their upraisal against Philippe II of Spain in the 1580's I cannot find informations about this banner Any information will be welcome Eric

Hello Eric,
looks like a banner put together by differnt coats of arms from the today Netherland-Beldium area. The golden Lion on black ground should be Brabant.
I just watched a close up of the painting. Really great! Do you know who painted the figure?

I bought these from Belgium, so I guess the painter was either Blegian or Dutch I join some other pictures of the set Eric

Another banner by the same painter Here the coat of arms are clearly identified Center : Flanders Upper left : Brugge Upper right : Ieper lower left : Veurnes Lower right : Kortrijk The flag flame is with the burgundian colors; Burgundy ruled Flanders at that time Eric
