Title: No Flats (at first hand)
Post by: Joerg on November 23, 2018, 02:41:05 AM
There might be some folks among us, that have a certain interest in the Trojan War.
Following a tip of my son I found the website

http://trojanwarpodcast.com/

and could find some entertaining hours during my everyday ride to work an back in listening,
what Jeff has to tell.

My special challenge was to know, which person the storyteller was talking about,
because the written names in English and German are nearly the same,
but the spoken names are completely from another planet  ;)

But anyway - I can highly recommend the series of podcasts.

I had a 5 min look, and found the style quiet amazing, as well as the vocabulary used (mass destructive weapons, commander in chief, ...) actualized to US style of talks.  I prefer by far the original versions given by the Greek writers of then such as the Iliad from Homer and other references.  I imagine how they (Homer) would describe a war in Afghanistan, with the intervention of their Gods ...

I believe each period in the History should be given its own stories, and it is the human brain and culture who should adapt to them.

West Side Story was a wondeful adaptation of Romeo and Juliette into a Musical Comedy, but it is the most appreciated when both versions were read or seen.

Thank you Joerg for this interesting interpretation, I will surely watch it soon.
