Searching the web for some regulations for pirates my son (who is far more into English than me) came accross to the following statement
"If any time we shall meet another Marooner that Man shall sign his Articles without the Consent of our Company, shall suffer such Punishment as the Captain and Company shall think fit."

So, what neither he nor me could come clear:
Why would this man be punished? Because he signs a contract (with the pirates company) without the consent of all bad boys, belonging to that special group ?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I would take a guess that if the man intended to 'jump ship' and join another crew without the captains/company's consent he would be punished.

I had the same interpretation/guess as well when I read it.

Most of those gentlemen and ladies worked out of Port Royal . Most of those rules worked quite well. It also started the Royal Navy Rum ration :o Willie
