Best wishes Friends for the new year 2017!
Here are some figures of the well known series Napoleon's retreat.
The story:
Actually I have already painted them one time - but I sold them on evilbay - and I don't know why (???).
I badly regretted the sale - and I started them once again.
Here are the few first ones.
Anyway it is hard winter time... so they fit the season...

@Sandor,
they look good! I can see the wheather conditions and bad circumstances.
-
if you take your pictures against a dark grey or black background, it s even frighteningly cold !!!!
-
Yes I remember your set on Ebay, I was following it planning to bid but it expired while I was at work and I was mad at myself for a week!!
Very nicely done.

Dear Sandor,
so this was what I was doing between Christmas and New Year. Painting some additions of Retreat and trying to paint "a la Douchkine" to match his set.
-
Alexander, these really catch the Douchkine style very well, super figures.
I like the contrast between the styles, and I must say Sandor's figures really do look cold. Very atmospheric.
It's a classic set, one of my favourites even though some of the figures are almost comical in their movement.

Dear Alexander,
I like your paintwork very much.
I think yours are much more accentuated on colour tones, than those of mine.
And yes, these are two, a bit different approaches.
Of course the Douchkine-style is the classic one!!!
So congratulations for your work - would like to see the others as you got ready with them ...
Best regards-

Dear Sandor,
dear Charles,
thank you very much. I really like to paint, but I have very few time for it, so I try to add to the Retreat whenever I can. I bought the french Sennelier oils to get closer to the colours Douchkine used regularly.
Luckily I get sometimes some additions from Mr. Hensel, which i attach as well.
And I will start to do some new additions to the Retreat as well. First set will consist of Russian Cuirassiers and dragoons in winter dress, which aren“t existing at all.
Best regards
Alexander
