1950 British soldiers killed on the 1st day, and that's just the British.
We honour all those that lost their lives from all nations. RIP

The first day of the Somme was the heaviest loss of life in a single day's fighting in British Military History . It started at 7.30 am and by 9am the cream of the British Army had vanished and the battle would go on for months. Willie.
