Title: Mohr's Leipzig fair in the early 19th century
Post by: Casper Friedrich on April 04, 2016, 12:13:49 PM
I decided to pay homage to the recently deceased nobel laureate Imre Kertesz by begin painting the two Polish jews in the F. K. Mohr set. In fact I had already painted the Russian after a plate in the Jewish encyclopedia 1906.

BTW The first unbaptized jew to legally live in lutheran Sweden, Aaron Isaac (1730-1816), tells in his memoirs that even after moving to Scandinavia he used to visit the Easter fair in Leipzig. Last time he had reached the age of 70.
