Title: Mannerheim and the white military parade in 1918
Post by: Casper Friedrich on December 06, 2015, 02:15:47 AM
As it is our country's Independence day today architect Sune Maconi's (d. 1928) creation is in my thoughts. Well i know that this set wasn't of the flat type, but rounds mainly cast by Santessons in Sweden. It was actually too expensive in those asture days to found any buyers here.

My great grandfather was witnessing the parade as the family then lived just behind the National Museum. Grandmother didn't speek of that as my grandfather was a socialdemocrat, a red. But the proof still exists, two portrait photos in the old family album, two jägare,"jääkärit", young Finnish men with German military schooling who returned in 1918.
