Hi all
Here is the second Waterloo anniversary figure issued by the IFFS-BFFS, drawing by Christian Terana, engraving Daniel Lepeltier, 50mm
It shows a young drummer of the Coldstream Guards offering water ( or something else ?) to a french light infantryman after the fight around Hougoumont farm
I show the original painting, the drawing, and start a SBS
The figure will be available at Kulmbach, 10 euros for IFFS-BFFS members and 12 euros for non members
Orders can be sent to Brian Keywood; postage will be at cost
Hope you enjoy
Eric

Painting the French
A few words about faces : I tried to make a pale and tired face for the French and a reddish one for the young English; picture does not show that well because paint is still wet and bright
The blue coat is made with prusian blue, black and white for the base, naples yellow and white for highlights, dark violet for shadows and brown sienna and burnt umber for dirt

Too bright blue... better to try the Old Holland blue deep from Old Holland ... perfect...
-
"Too bright blue"
Hahaha you will not like my figure then, the trousers are so bright there white :o :o ;) ;)
-
Eric, I presume you are painting a different regiment from the picture? as the epaulettes are red and his trousers light bluey WHITE! ;D ;D ;D
-
If it is in front of Hougoumont door, investigate which French regiment was there at the assault to make it an historical painting....
If it is a fantasy painting, all freedom is permitted, of course...
-
Looks to me like the figure in the picture depicts a Grenadier - red Epaluettes - while Eric is portraying a Light Infantryman, Votigeur who sometimes wore a light blue uniform and green and yellow are facing common colors.
Historex taught me a lot when I was younger...
Seems like a nice versatile figure to me.

Blues The New white! if its to the painting Eric you might just have the colours incorrect
-
When we were designing the figure it came to be noticed that the painting actually has the wrong uniform from an earlier period, the uniform that Eric has painted is correct for the French light infantry. :)
-
so the paintings wrong :o ;D ;D sorry E :-[ric!!

Here is a new step
A lot of details to achieve and a hard work on the drum patterns
About the french uniform, YES the original painting is wrong; Hougoumont gate was stormed by the 1st light infantry régiment; so the uniform is from the Bardin rules 1812, all blue with short gaiters
That's why we modified the design to match the truth
PS : this design is probably the last work of Christian Terana
