Hello friends of flats,
it´s now too hot for our hobby.
It´s time to sit in the garden under the shadow of a big tree and to have a barbecue.
What you´re doing ???

Yes ridiculously hot - oils keep melting together. Fortunately ridiculous work hours have distracted me...
Some nice barbequeing however. For those in the US, happy 4th!

We got Rogers wet stuff now and I've had to put a shirt on it's so cold ;D ;D ;D

Me too Willie, I've moved on from grey, I'm in my orange period now. ;D

Well Saturday was good, so after discovering that the paint on my new frames had melted and stuck to the bubble wrap >:( >:( ( from being next to the engine in Brian's car!!) I had to take them all apart, sand them down and respray them using a proper paint!!! Yesterday I had to make new mounts for extra figures and re-assemble the old ones.
I don't know where the time goes!! I still need to mount the 2015 project figures for Kulmbach! and finish off 2x other figures I promised to get done, plus make and paint the frames for the new mounts!!! :o :o I may need to take a couple of holiday days if I can from work.
The good news is my 4x pieces for Kulmbach are ready and done :)

it´s not a good idea to use chocolate for painting frames ;D ;D ;D
For wood it´s better to use a special wood lacquer like acrylic or PUR (DD-lacquer Desmophen/Desmodur produced by Bayer); the best lacquer I know for wood but the most dangerous, too. ;) ;) ;) :)

well being a bit dopey, I thought I would go and get specific paint for wood from one of our DIY shops. more fool me ::)
it sprayed well, and although it seemed to be dry it felt sticky, if you know what I mean. I wasn't happy with it, but it looked good from a distance, and without my glasses on!!! ;D ;D ;D
Anyway, I blame Brian!!! ;D ;D ;D
now resprayed with Holts body shop Matt Black auto spray, looks very very nice and it's dry! and it covers wood very well ;)

or Halford black spray paint Nick, works a treat on wood! ;) they also do a satin black, good for bases etc
and good value!

It looks like the surface of an orange if it´s too hot and the thinner dries too fast.
Maybe the layers of paint are too thick.

Hi Michael,
no the paint went on smooth and covered well. I presume something wasn't right with the paint chemically!! as it was dry but sticky although it doesn't come off on your fingers. it felt like rubber!! :o
