Here is a bit of silliness for folks - pictures of the model room.
[attach=1] Flats are on cardboard in the metal drawers to the right.
Oil paints are hidden away in the drawers to the left.
Part of the library.
[attach=2]
And the brain center of the web site. [attach=3]
Pretty neat today! Hidden away is a closet full of WWI airplanes. (Apparently must live forever to finish all of these...)
What does your little painting hovel look like?

A lot messier than this ;D ;D ;D
Will take photos and post shortly ;)

Ditto.
Good idea for a thread, I especially like to have a snoop through peoples bookshelves and see what they've got. ;D

Here's my little hovel, ;D ;D loads of DVDs I watch whilst painting, I also pause them for light sources etc.

Draw's full of figures, paints and general bits and bobs.

Very nice Nick - the Christmas lights are a festive touch as well.
With me it is listening to old Detective radio shows when I paint rather than DVD's. (I spotted Inspector Lewis and Midsummer Mysteries.)

My room i can shut the door and keep the wife out hahaha ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

The room is at the front of the house, so all windows have these in which is quite nice.
I like to sit at the window cos I'm nosey to see what the neighbours are doing ;D ;D ;D
However, when I paint I have to close the blind as the sunlight is too strong and refects off the figure too much. The lamp has a daylight bulb in.
Once i have finished the section, I then look at the figure in day light to make sure the blending is OK and not blotchy.
Looks like youve got more paint on the table than your figures Chris ;D ;D ;D

Here is my slum !
Eric
-
there's a few unpainted sets there Eric. ;D
I love the stand on your desk, is this just to hold them or paint on? Is it home made, you seem to have 2
Is that the Tiger hunt I see poking out behind the computer table? ;D ;D Still got to get back onto mine
-
Hi Nick
It is a usual desk stand for painters
I just move up the holder to have it at my eyes
I put my figures on little pieces of wood on which are put on the stand with some scratch so that I do not have to hold in hand
I do not dare to count how many unpainted figures I have; a few thousands !
And yes it is Porus tiger hunt from Retter; a fabulous set engaved by Lecke, maybe a little heavy

I started them back in April, and got halfway through the 6 elephants, then Brian hijacked me with other figures (as he does !)and they have sat in the box ever since!!!!! :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
However, I am not too impressed with what I have done, so it's Roger's Nitromor's for me ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D well them actually, but you know what I mean. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I now have a timetable set out, and when I have completed the figures I'm doing at the moment, these will definately be next!!!!! ( Next October if I'm lucky ---- then there's the figures from Kulmbach,!! Oh I'm drowning in figures, I need to retire from work and Paint ! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Very nice though with Eric's output I expected the wall's to be lined with display cases.
It would be interesting to see our unpainted backlog layed before us like they used to do with the pictures of the jet planes and all of the ordnance they could carry spread out before them. In my case I confess to a good collection of Historex, rounds and WWI model planes with a few model tanks thrown in to add to the flat's backlog. I could cover a good part of the driveway...
Thank goodness for a big house and a large closet.

Hi Mark
Here is my main Showcase
Eric
-
Wow I think I see some elephants, Mignot Arabs, Joan of Arc and some Douchkine's in the background. I guess we need to show display cases next on this thread - nice start.
-
You can already see my showcases for the few flats i have done!!! ;D ;D ;D
I do have cabinets full of rounds though!!!! :-[ :-[
My collection of DVD not only show my age, but also my mental age of 6!!! ;D ;D ;D
Captain Scarlet, Thunderbirds, The Secret Service, Joe 90, then we go into sillyness
The Pursuaders, The Saint ( Roger Moore) One foot in the Grave ( Comedys )
Sci fi--- Lexx, firefly, Stargate and when I 'm very serious ( 14 years old) ;D ;D West Wing, Numbers, Inspector Linsey mysteries
I don't think I've done my credibility much good here have I :D ;D :-[ :-[
-
NO! ;D ;D ;D
-
WELL, thanks for that Roger, and a merry christmas to you too !!!! ;D ;D ;D :D ;D ;D
-
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

Nick
As I'm in your era mate, i too love your D.V.D choice! Thunderbirds, captain Scarlett Brillant, what about Joe 90!!, but you left out out Batman and Robin, stingray etc etc , so your safe knowing theres another sad ***** on this site also ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D, but lets face it we loved them, now the Sweeney should get a mention as well as Z cars! oh the nostalgia, and all the late Gerry Anderson spin offs! But getting back on subject, love all the display and home 'studio' pictures
-
How about the Avengers, Commando Cody and Flash Gordon Serials? Old nerds apparently....
I noticed there is a series of models of the Thunderbird vehicles out now, but not having watched the series I have not gone that direction yet. (I have build resin Flash Gordon and Ming the Merciless ships however.)
On my list is to make some Buck Rogers flats - I think the comics would lend themselves well. However, as I am currently working on the army of Charles the Bold and French Maison du Roi cavalry I am several centuries short.

OK going back to model rooms, I don't have one >:( I paint at the family table with dogs and kids and misses walking around talking to me, jogging here, nudging there it's a woulder anything get done :'(
[attach=1] my work space when I can get it :o
And if your wondering what's on the table now [attach=2] one of Ken's minimen ;D
-
Good stuff - family fun! In my case I think my paints would cover the table.
-
So, here is my workplace - the dining table in the living room.
Normally we eat in the kitchen, so everyday the table can be blocked (and is ;D) by me.

Very nice Joerg. I also see like myself you have an impressive collection of started but, unfinished figures. May we live forever and get to these things...
Nice pictures and fun workplace!

I don't know why I found so much enjoyment seeing other painters' workstations. I picked up a few ideas here and there. For one, I have always wondered where everyone stores their unpainted flats. I have decided to store them in the drawers of a cabinet I used to store paper in for calligraphy projects. Any other details you all care to share on where and how you store unpainted flats would be appreciated.

Welcome back!

New addition to the Empire - in the left hand corner you can see a lovely OttLite lamp which produces a nice natural light. Since I moved last year I have been fighting decent lighting where I work - nothing to do with age mind you.
This plus some lovely figures Nick purchased for me at Kulmbach has me all set!

Hello Sandor,
it´s interesting to see where the Mignot-flat for the painting project is waiting for their colors and where
you´ll paint them.
Hello friends of Mignot-flats,
where are the other Mignot-flats waiting ??? Make a picture ...
Best regards
Michael
