Flat figures ruled at the BMSS Interbranch at the weekend. I picked up 16 awards 12 of them were for flats, Mike Crease and Chris Parkin also got awards for Flats.
There were some comments that Flats should only be allowed to enter FLAT CLASSES only. O dear what a shame as it fell on deaf ears as the chief judge was a flat figure painter. Sorry no photos as i forgot my camera.

Well done Chris ;)
Why should flats only be in a class of their own? they are still a modelling figure.
In fact for a flat to beat a round, they have to be very very good, especially to get the 3D imagery, that's why I believe a flat will always start off at a disadvantage in these classes!!

Nick . In a way you are right about rounds. I look at it this way ;D Every time I paint a flat I learn something and I use that on my next one. I enter figures in shows to show of my work, if I win I win and if not I still feel like I helped to advance the hobby and exchange ideas and some money ;D As for having a grouping for flats at shows I am for that. I have been in this hobby for 50 years with my first figures from Bob Bard to Flats and Wargame figures . As for shows I have gone to I don't know how many :P Enjoy what you are doing , 8) paint the way you like. Willie
