Post by: rin on July 30, 2014, 01:40:36 PM
Hi My name is Aaron (Rin)

I am from Nottinghamshire and have been a modeller for a while no  but new to the world of flats. I am interested in learning more about painting flats and finding out about the varieties of figures and producers available.

Many thanks
Rin

Welcome Rin,

firstly, what subjects and period do you like?

The world of flats do most subjects, from Egyptian boats, through to Napoleonic, fantasy, and Characters from books.

Ask all you need, and somewhere here a Man of Knowledge ( of which there are many! ;D ) will answer.

Try the Galleries, this should inspire you to give them a go.  ;)

I look forward to seeing some of your work as it progresses.

Nicholas

Indeed welcome Rin!

I can also recommend the "Knowledge Base" section of the site where there are quite a few resources showing different eras of flats, and many examples and how to's on painting flats.

There are also a small sub set of "Vendor Catalogs" available under that heading which will show you a bit of the range of figures available and finally under Links there are quite a few Editors with sites and catalogs on-line.

As Nick mentions there is no shortage of 'self appointed' experts here with normally someone available who can answer most questions about flats.
