Title: ID help: Death's Head Hussar?
Post by: rm on December 17, 2013, 06:54:21 AM
Just acquired this. I think it is a WWI Death's Head Hussar? Seeking ID so that I may paint it some day. :)

Marked: HU2 / W. Hodapp, Kjuhe

Size is around 54mm…

Do I have the ID right?

Thanks!

must be    Wolfgang Hodapp, Karlsruhe

lastly mentioned in "Die Zinnfigur" in 1966

Unfornately I have no further information. You can see a few of his figures at Berliner
if you search "Hodapp"

Ok. Your period should range from about 1880 to 1914. So I have reached into my  collection and found the following books to look up and use in painting.
      1. Hussars and Mounted Rifles Uniforms of the Imperial German Cavalry 1900-1914 By D.H.Hagger paper back printed in 1974 Almark publishing
      2. Lancers and Dragoons Uniforms of the Imperial German Cavalry 1900-1914 By R.J Marrion paper back printed in 1975 Almark publishing
      3. Cuirassiers and Heavy Cavalry  By D.S.V.Fosten Hard Back printed in 1972 Almark.
All these books are great with lots of information. Second are more pricey .
1.The German Cavalry Uniforms and Equipment from 1871-1914 Hard Back By Verlag Militaria
2.Imperial German Hussar By Shiffer  Publishing.
All these books should help you  Willie
