Here is a Gottstein 'Charge of the Light Brigade' Light Dragoon Officer, now as finished as it will ever be.
For those interested, engraved by 'AK', Alfred Krunert.
-
These are done in oils. The rest of the Light Dragoons are nearly finished, here's a quick photo to give you an idea.
-
I'm impressed mate. They look great. They look very good as a group. Although the casting and engraving is a little poor, the design of the figures is full of life. Stick with the oils Charles and be "bold"

Cheers Mike.
Here they are, finished. Always a bit more to be done but I have had enough, there are hundreds more to be getting on with. Unless you see something obvious of course, advice always received gracefully.
-
Very smart Charles, they are a really nice looking set, full of action.
So how many hundreds do you have to do? ;D
-
Hi Nick.
673 I believe. Luckily only 25 in the set !
-
These look great Charles but, for me to be sure I will need to see them in person. If you will send them along I will take a closer look to be sure... ;)
Mark 8)
P.S. Thanks to Jim Horan of late I may be getting into the 600 figure back log.
-
So Charles that's 27 sets, and you've got 1 :o
You may need to man up a bit and get the other 26!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
If you worked fast you could have them all done for the AGM in June ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Very impressive Charles
Makes a nice lttle scene

Thank you gentlemen.
I have enjoyed doing them. I will persevere manfully Nick, the Lancers are next.
-
Getting on with the Lancers. This is Pte Fahey (or Veigh) the Regimental Butcher. In those days they spelled it as they heard it, and he didn't know which was correct.
He got drunk the night before and was put in the guard tent. Next morning he woke to find everybody gone, so he 'borrowed' a horse and joined in, still in his butcher's apron.

Courage does not need a uniform !!

Hey Charles! Are you making this stuff up or what? Should look good when you've finished though.
Mike.
-
Cause he's making it up, look closely Man, it's a Dwarf in a floppy hat, from lord of the rings ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
No Mike, a real person. He was interviewed after the charge by a journalist and gave a somewhat embellished account of his heroics, but other survivors mention him, he definitely made the charge and return journey. He died about 1860 in India, of cholera, by which time he was digging graves to earn his grog. This guy would do anything for a drink, rather like some BFFS members I know!
Finished him now, so here he is, but I did leave off the bloodstains from the apron.
The hat? Looks like a weird tam-o-shanter, but i treated it as a rather misshapen forage cap.
-
Very nice Charles, very nice indeed.
I feel I must point out that We only drink for the medicinal qualities, Iron, Magnesium, Vitamins A,B,D right through to XXXX ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
How did you guess who I was talking about, Nick. Sound like a healthy pastime though!!
-
Well painted mate. Even a cast shadow. Look forward to seeing the "cherry bums" next or are you painting the "bone heads"
It's not very wintery here in Sweden. Warm and wet. Hasn't been like this for many years. (I wish I had my paints) Keep posting Charles.

I am still persevering with this set. Now I am on to the Lancers, here is a bugler almost finished. There are another six or seven who are near completion, and i will wait 'til they are all done before I post again.
On another historical anecdote, it is still debated whether the 'charge' was ever sounded. If so, the honour probably goes to Pte William 'Billy' Brittain 17th Lancers who was Lord Cardigan's orderly trumpeter that day. He was seriously wounded and died in the hospital at Scutari a few months later.

Your on a roll!

Very nice Charles, I look forward to seeing these.
