Two lovely sets I just purchased from Benedikt Widmann. I believe these are modeled on some figures from the now defunct Thiel sets. Regardless they are beautiful and full of purpose.

Nice who engraved them?
-
Designed and engraved by Johannes Frauendorf. The set is "Dragon Camp" and consists of figures marked FL1-FL30. The molds are in the possession of Richard Wunsch. The cost for the set was 38 euro in the Wunsch catalog dated 2009. There is a colorized plate No 29 (I think by A. Wilke) in Eggimann and Krannich "Miniaturen Teil 1," which can be used as a painting guide.

Dear marko,
you will find here some painted figures and additional info on this very nice set of 1927 (scrolling down).

You can find some other figures that will fit into this theme by the manufacturer "Seele", I believe that he is on the list of manufactures.
He has a small series of Dragoons at rest, some of which should suit you.
Kindest regards
-
Thank you I will hunt those down.
I also notice Glorious Empires has two sets that fit as well - with 33.2 Shoeing a visiting a General's Horse and 33.4 French Cavalry looking after their horses.

Well there are indeed still some more very nice figures from Thiel which match very well. All painted by Jörg Hensel.

Aba, That is a beautiful set, I would like to buy this set especially the figures in your 3 pictures. Would you know who sells these, as well as the set number?
Thanks
Barry

Paintings are absolutely perfect and superb !!!
-
Dear Barry,
these figures are not of one set but from different sets unluckily in the possession of different owners today. A part comes from the big Thiel hussar camp as the hussars and dragoon stable dress was alike. For the Knoll figure the best source is Mr. Meinecke - a friend of Mr. Knoll - who sells his figures at Kulmbach. Others are available from Tobinnus.
-
Does any one have the contact details for Mr Meinecke as it is not possible to travel to Kulmbach.
Kindest regards

Hello Bob,
here is the contact:

It can be tricky with the figures.
Best regards Mike.

Thanks Mike
Very much appreciated

Others are available from Tobinnus
Sadly Tobinnus has passed away.
I do not know, who owns the Thiel-moulds, that were with Tobinnus.
Quite unmodest, I confess:
Two of cavalry camp figures (rider resting; heavy cav.) and two horses with blankets)
are in my stack of moulds.
-
I must admit I wasn´t aware Mr. Tobinnus passed away and frankly I do not know who is in possession of his moulds now. But I checked my Thiel list and these two Thiel (in fact former Brandt ) figures are shown on the second photo, too. Te stands for Tetzel and his figures (ho overtook some Thiel moulds) are no more available to my knowledge.

43 Dragoner in Stalljacke neben Pferd sitzend, Dragonerhelm S. Maier To Fr 109 ex-Brandt Number unknown

Some figures are from Mr. Tobinnus are by Offizin Seele appered. The Offizin Seele has a website.
Best regards Mike
-
Dear Kosak,
this was a very good hint as Seele has obviously overtaken the Thiel figures. Fr 102, 104, 107 and Fr 109 are shown at my photos below.
And the other Fr figures are Thiel figures as well !

Something I have had some fun with over the break. Still quite a bit of work on the bottom row and some finishing work but, getting there.

I love all of the activity in these type of figure scenes.

Looking good!
-
I painted this set some years ago
As all the Frauendorf camp scenes it is really very nice
Marko I think your Dragoon green is too yellowish
Eric
-
Yes, it is coming out with a bit of yellowish tint in these. I will give them a wash and touch up with something a bit darker as you are correct Dragoon Green is pretty dark.
