Wowzers - they just cry out to be put into a diorama.  Looks like great fun - enjoy!

Just got my gottstein figures from Scholtz. Here are some pics of the Hastings set. They're fantastic. Maier and frauendorf are the engravers.

The actual Louis XIV staff is from Rieger
From the Gottstein set only part of the moulds were from the original engraving by Thieme and Maïer; the missing ones had been reengraved by Lepeltier
As Jan says the moulds are gone back to the Brétegnier family

Flats indeed are fun and at times confusing  :o ...

Yes, I purchased the set that was sold by Krog and now by Berliner.  I did notice a Reiger mark of a few figures and this explains them.  Regardless, wonderful set, beautifully engraved but, thanks for the correction/clarification.

Hmm Marko! I wonder which Staff set of Louis XIV did you get? I presume you got the set that Krog issued and which has nothing to do with Gottstein.

Christian Terana had most of the original Gottstein´s figures from the set for sale for several years. When he passed away the moulds were taken back by the Bretignier family who owned the moulds. The original set was engraved by Otto Thieme and Sixtus Maier and the set by Krog was engraved by  by Rieger.

Good for you exciting!

I had a similar experience with the Staff of Louis XIV which I lusted after but, were too expensive from Krog and then regretted it until they came available last year, so I know how it feels.  I sold of some WWI plane models to fund the purchase as they are an expensive taste but, the results were well worth it.

Did you purchase from Berliner or the Lepizig Society for these?

P.S. I am now really waiting for the Punic War elephants wherever those landed.

Well I was weak and ordered a bunch of the stuff last night. I'll take pictures of the Hastings set and post them here when they arrive. It's very expensive (roughly 3 euro per), but I tried to order these figures unsuccessfully from krog in 2002, and have wanted them ever since. When the gottstein sets have come up on German eBay they have been selling for about this much money anyway and are usually incomplete to boot, so I am pretty excited. To me,  30mm figures designed for dioramas and vignettes is what it's alll about - call me old fashioned!
