Might anyone know the name, scale, and source of the female piece with the flower-print wrap?

Michel, yes, Rick did indeed paint this and display it at the world expo in 2007.

However, he had a flood at his house, and unfortunately the figure got ruined!!! he has now repainted it and has started showing it again. ;)

When reviewing all exhibitions, I found by accident that the Memorial Prize Mike Taylor 2015 at Folkestone this year was attributed to a painting .... that was already presented, and photographied ..... at the ... Wold Expo ...  2007 !!! some eight (8) years ago !!

Does this make sense? or are there any 'time limit' for presenting a work to a competition? years later.
The frame is the same and title underneath also ??? Unless the picture was added in that gallery only a few weeks ago  (pics from Joe Salkowitch)..

Hello Jerry,

thank you for the pictures. It´s easier to imagine the painting of the flat with a photo.

There where big exebitions with flats in the 20´s and 30´s in Germany, good texts in the journals, but only a few photos in black-white left. Sometimes you can see such pictures in "Die Zinnfigur" and you see, they had good ideas
90 years ago, too.

Best regards

Michael

Our cousins in PlanetFigure also have a number of photo collections which are mostly those other figures...but, if one does not object to wading through stunning figures to get to those of Flats  this is workable.

I have put some of my photos from Euro 2015 into the gallery - sorry, didn't get round to it sooner.

The different clarifications is a far better way I think, as it does mean you can compare like with like.

We are very lucky with Euro as the Chief Judge, Geoff Illsley, is very open to sensible suggestions and will implement where it is appropriate and possible.

If Chief Judges of other shows would like our participation, all they need to do is ask, we will always help and advise in any way we can.  Delphine doesn't speak much English, and this unfortunately is a bit of a problem. My schoolboy French is some what  limited.

Je m'appelle Nicholas, Bonjour et Bon Nuit    ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Perhaps if clubs in general approach the organiser's it could start the ball rolling :)

With regards the Photos from Euro, Brian is posting tonight. Unfortunately Chris went away on holiday straight after Euro, and isn't back yet.   ;)

Tha nks, Nick and Dave for your comments and explanations.
Yes, If I am there next year, I 'll cover  all flats ! I expected BFFS would select one of its member to do so in the UK, ... for the flats at least.
Congratulations Nick for your medails, you deserved eventually after Kulmbach !!

I wish someone from BFFS could adress this classification between flats and "bas reliefs" to Sèvres, perhaps also Ransart and Montroige, to launch this new class in Europe.  It would stimulate also more artists to join and further develop them parallel to the rondes-bosses ( figurines). People like Delphine (Ransart), JP Duthilleul , C. Cesario, S. Franzoia, ... can have some influence on a movement they have also initiated themselves in that direction..

Didn't take it as criticism at all Roger :)  but a sign  that our eyes are getting older, unfortunately I don't seem to be getting any wiser with it!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D       There were a few 40mm though ;)  and I think Rick's figures were of this scale.

Small can certainly be beautiful :)

I have a few 30mm pieces I want to get done, so hopefully you may find a few more pieces being displayed. ;)

One definitely needs to adjust the painting technique for them, but it doesn't take too long and once adapted, ( with x20 binoculars attached to one's head!!)  they are extremely enjoyable to paint. :) :) :)

Nick
I will be there next year.Unfortunately when you have a major operation it takes time to get back to normal.Hopefully by then things will be better.
Glad you got your golds though this was overdue.
