Chris, go to Google images and search for 'red hair'. You'll find more references than you can absorb. Generally speaking, models' hair shot under controlled studio conditions have greater contrast than casual shots on the red carpet at the Emmys due to the use of multiple lights - key, main, fill, overhead, etc. The new photo looks better!

Cheers,

Glen

The question is : where does the light come from ?
It seems it comes a little from everywhere and so the volume is not really effective

Really a lot of hair. Complicated to achieve a 3D effect. ???
As the figure seems gesmte area. Calibration with much more in the rear Ebennen (darken) the contrast seem the stucco doors not too flat. :o

otherwise a nice work and thanks for the show :)
best regards

It is a great figure, nicely painted!  Thanks for sharing.

I have similar challenges with photography, all of my pictures seem a bit washed out as well.  Currently on the 'C' list of task to address and learn how to do better.

It looks nice Chris. The blending of the skintones is great. Oils or acrylics? I would concur with Eric about the hair, but camera flashes nearly always wash out colors. Try using a single light to light the overall figure, then a slightly brighter light shining from your painted light source. Put the camera on a tripod and use the timer if it has one. Alternatively, try using a scanner. The hair color itself is great (don't ya just love redheads!), but the near-black roots seem out of place. FWIW, in my limited experience with flats - especially women -  I've found that midtone color hair (mid-browns, blonds, and reds) needs more contrast from dark to light to pop the highlights.

Cheers,

Glen

A lot of the highlight on the hair has been lost by the flash by my camera. Is that what you mean about the hair.  The flat is by Andres Trost sold by Jupiter miniatures.
