I have picked up some of his hand signed, hand colored prints from time to time there generally a bit pricey so I don't get them too often, I really enjoy them.

Very sad news indeed Eric. The art world, and the figure world too, for that matter have lost one of the true pioneers. His legacy will of course be a body of work, unsurpassed, and inspiring countless figure painters, be it rounds or flats to strive to produce the best work as they can.
Thoughts and prayers go to his family.

Yes, indeed, what a wonderful body of work.

I have hundreds of examples of this gentlemen's work via Historex/Osprey and Military Modelling.  He obviously had a fondness for the Louis XIV - XV period.  One could say I grew up with his work - hopefully a happy and glorious life.

I just learnt the death of Eugene Leliepvre, great french military painter and also a very very good painter of flats
He also was a major actor in the creation of Historex
He was in his 106th year
