Title: Tag der Deutschen Kunst
Post by: JerryMort on February 15, 2023, 07:47:47 AM
This may be a bit obscure but maybe one of you knowledgeable people could help me. This series represents the Tag der Deutschen Kunst parade in Munich in 1937. This is not the large presentation series by Schweizer, but the 30mm series supplied by various makers for the Winterhilfwerk.
Some of these figures were specially made but others were standard castings supplied to make the set up, for example the two Kieler figures bottom right.
I know that I am missing one figure, the mounted drummer on the top row that I have added from a photo of a set that was for sale. That may be a standard casting available as part of another set from some editor's catalogue.
Can anyone identify it? Or perhaps has an example they would be willing to part with?
The strangest figure in the set was the Heinrichsen (?) figure of Cortes being carried on the shoulders of some Aztecs. This is nothing to do with the actual parade but just seems to have been included to make the set up.

The Cortez group you can get as single figure (Welser Statthalter) by Berliner Zinnfiguren.

Thanks, knew I had seen it somewhere.
If anyone is interested, the history of the Tag Der Deutschen Kunst figures was given by Simon Hoggett in Journals 79-83.
