Title: Wimor A Night In Venice - engraved by Mohr - 30 mm
Post by: marko on July 22, 2023, 07:23:42 PM
Recently to add to my retirement stash I purchased a second copy of the first set of flat figures I ever acquired from the lovely Carl Gruen, - Wimor's A Night in Venice in the Time of Casanova.

The set is missing the standing beggar but, is otherwise complete.

Venice of the 1700's was for a time a major focus for European artists so much inspiration is to be had:

There are many fine examples about with Gianfranco Speranza being one of my favorites:

As always Mohr figures are a special treat to paint and I am always amazed by the level of detail he is able to put into the face and clothing of a 30 mm figure.

I've see it for the first time at Saint Vincent show (it) ... the version from Catherine Cesario is also beautiful
