Scholtz - History of Costume
« Reply #1 on: February 16, 2020, 12:11:39 PM »
Though I already owned a small part of this set, this was a happy Ebay find in two parts from Scholtz illustrating the history of costume.  (It also was a lovely bargain!)

This represents Costume 11th-15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th centuries and 1900 - 2000 minus the four figures in the 1980s and 1990s.

The seller then also had one further piece:

representing Costume 1st - 10th centuries

I am now missing just Costume in the Stone age and Scholtz has a small addition of Costume 2000 - 2010.

This is something I have always had an interest in as part of it was shown on Erwin Ortmann's book on flat figures which was one of the first if not the first books in English on zinnfiguren.  The set show fashion in 100 year increments through the year 900 and 50 years increments through 1500 and then in 10 year increments with a couple for each time span.

Once I acquire the Stone Age set I hope to do a series of articles for the journal on these relating to fashion.

This is the breakdown of figures with each letter representing a different time period and set:
