Hello.
This will be my first trial of big sized flat figure, based on Maxim Gorelik's drawing from the book Great Atlas of the history and culture of Kazakhstan. I could not call this work under a specific sized category name because I dont know if such category is exists in flat world..
Barak Khan (years of ruling 1423-1428) was Khan of Ak Orda, son of Kuyyrshak Khan and grandson of Orys Khan. That time Barak Khan was one of the influential khans. He participated in construction of Sygnak city. In 1423, Barak Khan started to carry on the policy against Maverannarkh. In 1425 he required to return ancient lands of Ak Orda along Syrdariya River. At the beginning of 1427 troops of Ulugbek and Barak Khans started an exterminatory war. Only after the interference of Girat's troops headed by Shakhrukh Barak Khan had to come back to Desht-i-Kipchak. Sygnak city again became the center of Orys Khan's offspring.
Barak, the grandson of Urus Khan was the last khan of the Ak Orda in the period when it was weakened and defeated by Tamerlane. A large part of the Ak Horde was entered in Khanate of Abulkhair , the rest of Ak-Orda was a part of the Nogai Horde.
I made a standart start. Prepared Super Sculpey - Fimo clay mix. Rolled it out up to some 2 mm. thickness and pinned and tooled outline excess parts after pinning..
So main hulk is ready and waiting to be detailing..

Hi Serhan, I think you should check the proportions of the head and the helmet. The head appears to be in scale but the helmet is too short so it gives the face a squashed look. See the image below and it will show the difference.

Also create a little more depth on the sides of the face.
Hope this helps?

I have little some process on Barak the bad boy..

Looks very nice, but I would not have the hand with an exernal proeminent line around , It will create a shadow on painting disturbing the hand ... Round it rather smoothly.
-
Hello Michel,
I am sorry I could not catch your point.. Which place you want me change?
-
Sorry Serhan, it was on the second picture below, but younger that the other, before the hands were totally shaped. The last hands are perfect .....
-
No problem Michel, hope you are enjoying in Mugla well.
Only small things such as belts & ropes, riding things details, horse armor details left to do ..
With the next update I am planning to finish sculpting stage..Photos with the direct sunlight.

Richard, what do you think, if I make scepter on his right hand as saparate part, like 3D and add afterwards??
I hate to fill empty space behind parts until 0 level, which are positioned little away from the figures body. It breaks sight very badly.
Or bad idea?
Serhan-
-
The sceptre? A good idea, I've seen a resin flat by Ken Farrar (milmart (http://www.puttyandpaint.com/mil-mart)) that has done something similar.

Scepter and harness will be addition as 3D parts.

That looks very nice Serhan and will look great painted.
-
I need to go back to the previous buste, but this one looks very nice !!!! to paint !!!
Will contact you ....
-
Hello.
Roger thank you.
Michel thank you. I just bake him and primed before sending to RTV.
I let the horse harness details to the modeler's scratch ability. I did not wanted to add those details due harness passes between horse head and body which would not seen nice after moulding.
So adding harness will seen nicer on the model, same as the scepter.
