Title: Good day to you all
Post by: Oda on August 30, 2015, 06:20:38 AM
I'm Oda 59 years, a parttime teacher from the Netherlands.
Twentyfive years ago I bought my first fairy tale flats in Düsseldorf on a Christmas Market.
Till then I had only seen tinsoldiers. I didn't know how to paint them, but I enjoined it very much.
Last year I discovered a company in the Netherlands wich sells Wilhelm Schweizer flats.
Since then I started painting again and discovered al lot of information on internet.
I'm not a artist, but I love the flats and painting them. I become a bit shy when I see so much
beautiful work on the site of BFFS, but glad that I joined, to enjoy it and getting inspired.
Kindest regards Oda

Twentyfive years ago I bought these figures on a "Weihnachtsmarkt" in Düsseldorf. I believe that the maker is Marie-Luise Müller, but I'm not sure.
I painted them with acrylic Citadel paint.

Two years ago I bought these by Triple L in Holland, they are from Wilhelm Schweizer.
I had great pleasure in painting them.

These are delightful, thank you for sharing.

I have the Wilhelm Schweizer ark on my list of things to purchase.  It also looks like great fun to paint.

Very coloiourful Oda ...!
Nice settings.
But ..... do you apply a varnish after your acrylic paintng?  Citadel paints are very matte!
Perhaps to protect them?

Yes, I like them too.
I think Nicholas found the right word for them: they are charming...
In our usual world, mainly full of iron plated, grim knights, Troian heroes etc. they are quite refreshing tones!
Thank you for sharing the photos.

Indeed Hannibal, I use a varnish after painting them. I understood that it is necessary, but don't like the shining very much.
Now I've got a matt varnish. But do have to varnish acrylic paint?
It's good to take pictures of your paintings, you can clearly see what's wrong ;)

When I used Acrilic paint, I always varnished them matte.
Taking un-varnished (acrylic painted) figures in the hand once or twice,
destroyed the finest detials of painting.
Varnishing helped in that way.

I had great pleasure in painting them.
That is the definitive point in painting figures. ;)
