Any details of a Dr1 and the Red Baron?
-
The Fokker DR 1 was built as a direct result of the success of the sopwith triplane.
Flown by the red baron and also by his brother. what else do you need to know? It was red and had an engine at one end and 3 wings. :o
-
Just a little bit more, any one do a flat of this aircraft ? I know Heinrichsen had them but has this been sold on? the airdrome sets.
And you know the point of the three wings? keep the same amount of lift but giving grater visibility pass the lower wing ::) (http://www.zinnfigur.com/images/pixel_trans.gif)

As to the Aerodynamics I recommend "Three Wings for the Red Baron" but, can't remember anything other than I enjoyed it and a tripe is a plane.

Brain we have 4 flying Dr1 at the museum. If you are looking for color profiles of this aircraft I recommend the following books. 60 Years of Combat Aircraft By Historie & Collections. It has 6 color profiles of them and try Flying Colors. Also Amber has one on World War I Aircraft. So you could paint a whole Jasta ;D Willie
-
Willie, 4 Dr1's now that just being greedy ;D or very lucky!!
"Jasta" for those not in the know is a squadron ;)
Right this is the kid'o I'm after, is this one of the old "air force one" figs , Patrick I believe this is yours so???
Eric you say they where passed on to Joachim Reußner, he's at the fair isn't he?

I remember bringing back this flat to a dear departed mate of mine Phil Haynes ( he loved his planes)
and if memory serves me it was from a lovely lady Dr cant remember her name but know the stand, will direct you at Kulmbach Mate, she also does many 1st world war planes and crew!
Gerry.

Propably it was Ms Dr Grobe, owner of Heinrichsen Figures.
Meanwhile the "Aircraft No One" set is gone to some other editor.

you are correct didn't think of the ladys name but sounds right.
there really nice flats and are very nicely engraved.
-
Mr. Reußner will be at Kulmbach at Table C 5.
The figs of the Tin Airforce No. 1 were initiated by Hermann Sinkel -
sold for a time from Dr. Grobe (Heinrichsen) -
then went the moulds to Mr. Reußner -
The address and email I posted I took from his website.
In the new Edition of our regional tin figure magazine "Der Friedensreiter" (arrived today)
there was an article about the Airplane "Fieseler Storch" from Mr. Sinkel and another
email of Mr. Reußner: reussner.dresden@t-online.de
Hope this could be helpfull.
