thanks for tips, lads  :)

i was wondering how deep shadows/ better to say the contrast/ should be?

this is my first two projects ever with flatd, i tried 4 round figures before just to touch oils & acrylic paints  :)  ....in the next project i will be more softer with highlights & shadows.....

Nicely done, but I agree with Eric in that the shadows need more contrast. Part of that is because it's difficult to discern the specific light direction. For the most part it seems to be washing down from above and front but certain areas that should be in shadow are not (the upper under the hat brims and the area under the left figure arm for example). Other parts - cannonball, left figure leg wrap, and right figure shako - indicate above left front; while the drumhead and bare knee seem to indicate above right front. Still trying to get this right myself, so I tend to look for it...

Cheers,

Glen

Nicely done but lacking some contrast
You should accentuate the shadows
But probably the picture does not help the appreciation

It's coming along nicely, but I would agree with Eric; more shading is needed especially on the wall and gates behind the soldiers. The representation of the brick and wood is excellent, but there are different angles to all of them. Shouldn't the highlighting and shading be a bit different as well?

Press on!

thank you brian  ;)

eric, nicholas: thank you for advice, I will wait a while till the ground will be more dry and I will add more shadows directly under the men and lightly more around.

That's worked out very well, as Eric said, maybe a few shadows, but even so nicely done ;)
