Well, since you asked...

It is my understanding that the point of these projects was to to display the painting talents and styles of various BFFS/IFFS members at various shows in the UK and the Continent; the idea being to attract more members to the BFFS/IFFS and create interest and motivation to take part in the hobby. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The two I have been involved with have focused on military subjects of the 1600 and 1800s. So, instead of playing to the 40, 50, and 60-something crowd, perhaps it is time to take a crack at younger folks - the teens, 20, and 30-somethings - with something a bit more attuned to their interests: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Kid- and Teen Literature, Anime/Manga, Horror, and, yes, even Pin-ups. All of these have the additional advantage of not being locked into a specific palette - the sky's the limit as far as hair and clothing color and styles are concerned - a sheer pastel green sorceress' gown, blue hair, or red stiletto thigh boots with holsters - no problem!

...and one more thing: a big tip of the hat to Brian and Wolfgang for driving the herd!

Looks nice, but I think a more neutral background might've popped the colors a bit more.

Any decision on the 2015 project...?

After receipt of my dragoons, a detailed WIP is given:  http://www.intflatfigures.org/index.php?topic=1847.0
(Sorry, as Young aged painter, I am quiet slow)... hoping to bring the painting to Brian, if he comes to Ransart end of January.

Ging back to the Project of TYW of this year, Thank you, Brian for the flat, well arrived at home, this morning, back to Belgium.
It is the flat GO 1805 !
So as soon as re-installed, I will start the cleaning and préparation, perhaps bring it as a WIP in the appropriate subsection on the forum?
However I don't intend to finish the painting before end of February, because I am working on other flats and figures for the Ransart/Belgium competition end of January instead at short term.

Hallo Glen,
I think the genre is not so important for young people. There are more than enough round figures with
these themes.
Some years ago Mrs. Dr. Grobe, owner of Heinrichsen, made a casting with her old moulds in a museum
(Lauf an der Pegnitz). There were a lot of young people watching her producing flats. They were not
interested in the interesting displays of old Heinrichsen figures.
So I think there must be a little more action than a display. Learning painting for young people is another
point.

Best regards

Michael

Michael, I was simply hoping for something different; something in the Wizard, Warrior, Orc, Elf, Dwarf, Hobbit, Sci-fi armored space troopers, Klingons, etc, genres; something outside of the 1600 - 1800s and, as this is supposed to be for a traveling display that promotes the BFFS/IFFS, something that might have more appeal to younger (teen and twenty-something) painters. As I said, I will paint anything (one or two) that is chosen.

Michael I think your suggestion is a worthy one given the anniversary.  The Napoleonic times are very colorful and there is a wealth of figures to choose from.

Personally I also have a weakness for Mignot's so that is very welcome as well!
