Title: Life Guards / Horse Guards at Waterloo 1815
Post by: aba on May 20, 2015, 01:45:54 AM

Dear all,

even though we will probably not make it until Kulmbach here is the preview of a new set which I do in collaboration with Mr. Edward Tozer :

Life Guards / Horse Guards at Waterloo 1815

The figures are designed by Mike Michaelis and will engraved by Daniel Lepeltier as usually. Two of them have already be engravers so it will take until September or October to release them.

Moreover we will have Lord Uxbridge and his staff leading the charge in addition.

But as the 18. June is ahead this shall be the first announcement.

Beautiful pièces, and also because they are not French characters, from which we are invaded excessively against the allied forces. Thy constitute an excellent counterpart of the napoleonic forces in a diorama !!!
Congratulations to the manufacturers for such selection.

Alexander,
You maintain a very high standard with your new engravings, looks like you have an excellent group of artists to work with and you have the process down! I look forward to every new set.
Sincerly,

Dear all,

thank you for your friendly comments.

Even though Waterloo is not my main focus, the 200th anniversary was a very good reason for us to do some British.

When checking what is available I found to my surprise, there were some big Scots Greys sets existing (Ochel, Segom, Jurdzinski and B&S) but few of other units.

For the Life/HorseGuards there is a small set from Ochel and a few single figures at Neckel available. Not very much better for the "normal" Dragoons and surprisingly few Hussars, too. Seems that most Napoleonic collectors have concentrated on the French or "1813" sets.

I heartily agree.  I have had just ok results with Napoleonic figures in flats - too many overlapping things which tend to get lost in my painting.  However, Alexander's figures all are beautifully designed, engraved and paint up beautifully.  I have been eyeing his set of Colbert's Lancers as a start.

These too look first class.

As said Alexander makes some of the best 30mm Napoleonic figures and a must to any collection.
