This is really nice! Is the dark shadow under the olive colored scales between the legs an indication that the upper scales  stand away from the lower scales (like eaves on a roof)? Maybe it's an optical delusion on my part...

Glen, sorry for my late reply, as I read your post I started to think very deep  ..... i tought so for the first that is like eaves and some pictures made me sure, but some not ..... I looked also at the movie during the weekend but I could not catch it well ..... I guess I ll make it a bit lighter on upper side between legs that upper skin will be not that outstanding from the lower side ....  but touche, it makes delusion well  ;)

Looks good! The additional colors in the mane make it pop. Take another look at the eyes; one looks larger than the other. It makes him look a bit crazy-eyed (which is reserved for painters after painting little people all evening...).  :o

almost done  :)  .....just to fix eyes  :o  and some small others

It looks great!

The wide-eyed and puckered lips look was a staple of the pinup artists of the 40s - 60s. Maybe you should keep it!  ;)

nightmare continues...that lizzard is killing me  ???
Title: Re: Star Wars

I think the lizard is looking pretty good! The storm trooper is going to be a bit difficult; the armor has a glossy plastic look to it. Then it's got some Tatooine dust on it.

Press on!

thank you, Glen  :)  i ll do my best, i still need to learn more techniques of painting, now i m using mix of acrylic as base and oils for blending (wet blend).....my actual issue is, as i will finish, how to paint natutal shadows of light???

..... anyway my progress as usual below  :)

that's looking good ;)  a cast shadow of his spear on his leg would really lift it :)
Title: Re: Star Wars
Post by: Glen on September 24, 2015, 12:19:35 AM
X2 Nick; maybe even carry it over the lizard's body?

@fesak: if you search "stormtroopers on tatooine" on google images you will get several pics of the lizard and the troopers and be able to see the lights and shadows as well as the weathering. There will also be some artwork that will show how the artists treated shiny white plastic, dust, etc. Have fun with it.

Title: Re: Star Wars

Well, yes and no. I think the spear shadow should follow the curve of the leg. Close in, narrow and strong; further away, wider and more diffuse. Likewise the shadow on the lizard, but probably less curved and diffues. Not sure if I'm explaining it correctly.
