Dear Snagy,

the Gottstein moulds were acquired by Mr. Blum in 1951 (who passed away in 1962) who was the original Editor of the Murten set and some additional Elephants. Then they went to Mr. Kollbrunner until 1979 and went to Krog at last. But it was Kollbrunner who did the big Murten Diorama shown in a fairly rare privately published book about it.

Only the first much earlier set of "Schlacht bei Murten" was done by Gottstein.

Best regards

Alexander

Good Morning
Interesting. I have part of the original catalogue issued by Paul Krog.  I think the 70,s, in which he gave outlines of all his Gottstein figures with coloured pictures for the painting details.
On each page he has as the header Gottstein, Blum, Kollbrunner which I believe are the owners or Editors of the moulds and do not relate to the maker of the moulds.

I have always understood that Gottstein was the first Editor, the moulds then passed to Blum who was more of a collector and did not or very rarely issue any castings, they  then passed to Kollbrunner,  and on his death to Paul Krog.

I would suggest perhaps that you try to contact Adrian Forman who has a web site in which he describes that he was publishing the definite work on Gottstein, never published but I understand that he has original archive material on Gottstein, and that he is currently disposing of some of his collection of flats.
Recently advised on EBay.uk was some Madelener flats at very high prices.
All a bit vague Sorry
Kindest regards
Bob

Perhaps an enquiry might get lucky??

I think Karl der Kuhne editor is Gottstein and Murten is Blum
About the connexion I have no informations but Gottstein and Blum knew each other and I am not sure but Blum might have bought the Gottstein moulds and after he died they were all sold to Krog

Good morning Friends!
I am a bit confused now and ask for your advice.
Below there are the two covering pages of collections depicting figures of the Burgunderkrieg-times.
The first one, with the title Karl der Kühne,  is marked with the name Gottstein (editor??)
The second one Schlacht bei Murten is defined with the name of Blum.

My question is: who is the editor of the first set and who is the editor of the second set?
I mean the original editor - since I know that by the time of these leaflets the editor was Mr. Paul Krog ("zum Ritter").

And what is the connection between the two sets - if there is any at all?

Thank you for the information.
