Title: Neptune's horses
Post by: errant49 on May 01, 2019, 12:30:32 PM
A huge figure I started two months ago and left aside because I did not know how to paint it
I did not want to make the same as Walter Crane with only white horses
After a while I found a picture of an antic mosaïc which inspired me
Here is the result

excellent idea !!
Only the white background seems too hard as contrast , which re-enforce the darkness of the painting and f Neptune

Very nice Eric, I can only imagine how difficult it must have been to paint. Well done.

Daniel Canet made a very relevant remark : Neptune looks too "human"
He is right and that makes a lack of consistency
So I rectified to give Neptune a more "fish like" looking

It would make a fantastic large bronze statue in front of Versailles Palace, or perhaps Buckingham, or the Caserte palace near Napoli!

I agree, a good improvement.
