It is said that the painting on the ear was to frighten the ennemies
But who really knows ?

Very impressive, lot's of light in this painting, nice.
One small (-) I think is the red colour of the elephant's ears ... has this historical support?
My wife may start painting a carthagenian war elephant soon !

From Schmalkalder zinnfiguren (Frank Dittmar), designed by Andreas Gagelmann and engraved by Karl-Werner Rieger
Les impressive than some of the Gottstein ones, bur probably more realistic and with a dynamic attitude
A pleasure to paint
